It’s no accident that ESIEA is a pioneer among today’s digital engineering schools. Created in 1958 by Maurice Lafargue, a visionary entrepreneur and teacher, the school distinguished itself from the very beginning by incorporating the newest technologies of the time (automation and electronics) into the heart of its identity, and by choosing to include a strong human component to its program.
The result : a tradition of training engineers in the digital sciences and all its related domains, cultivating a curious, dynamic and open-minded culture. Some 60 years later, the school continues to innovate every day. It’s a singular story, marked with successes and risks taken in the name of constant improvement. This is what makes ESIEA the engineering school known for its service to the digital industry.
Maurice Lafargue, entrepreneur and engineer, creates the École Supérieure d’Applications Électroniques et Automatismes (ESEA). Ten years later, the school is renamed École Supérieure d’Informatique Électronique Automatique (ESIEA) taking into account the growing importance of computer technology.
Maurice Lafargue donates the school he created to the ESIEA alumni association. This exceptional initiative allowed the acquire the legal status of a non-profit association and to remain independent to this day.
The Commission des Titres d’Ingénieurs (CTI) authorizes the school to grant it’s engineering degree.
Already present in Paris/Ivry-sur-Seine, ESIEA inaugurates its new campus in Laval.
The association becomes the ESIEA Group.
The school opens its first research center dedicated to virtual reality and embedded systems on its Laval campus.
Opening of INTECH, an IT engineering school that trains experts in IT professions for a period of 3 or 5 years.
The Specialized Master in Information and Systems Security (MS-SIS) is created.
Maurice Lafargue receives the Legion of Honor.
The ESIEA Group’s research branch diversifies with the creation of the IT security (cryptology and virology) division in Laval.
INTECH obtains the RNCP level 7 certification – bac+5.
The school obtains the EESPIG label (Établissement d’Enseignement Supérieur Privé d’Intérêt Général, or “private higher education institution of general interest”). At the same time, it inaugurates the LDR (Learning, Big Data and Robotics) laboratory.
The ANSSI (French National Agency for the Security of Information Systems) grants ESIEA two SecNumedu certifications: one for the Cybersecurity Major offered within the engineering cycle for students in their 3rd to 5th year, and one for the SIS Specialized Master’s Degree.
ESIEA is able to award the ANSSI-approved tite of ESSI (expert en sécurité des systèmes d’information, or “expert in information systems security”) through its MS-SIS Specialized Master. This level I certification (bac +5) is registered in the National Directory of Professional Certifications (RNCP).
Birth of the ESIEABOT, a programmable educational robot created by students, for students.
Opening of the free FabLab on the Paris/Ivry-sur-Seine campus and launch of the Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity.
